Summary: We’re told from a very young age that slender is attractive. But that’s changing, because as we age, those who are excessively slender are finding it more difficult to keep volume in the face; the less volume there is, the more likely you are to look aged, tired, or, to the point—older than you feel. But there are certainly options out there for people who have thinner cheeks and who want to get themselves some more volume. As you age, chubby cheeks are a great way to mark yourself as youthful and energetic.
What is the Best Way to Get Chubby Cheeks
A funny thing happens as you age. You skin begins to get thinner. And with that thin skin comes a certain aged look—the deep cheeks, the lines and wrinkles, and so on. To put it simply, the thinner your skin looks, the more people will perceive you as being “old.” This is, to a certain degree, unavoidable—gravity pulls on your skin a little bit every day, stretching it out until the volume beneath that skin can no longer fill the space. It looks kind of like a balloon deflating. That’s why there are all kinds of tutorials out there about how to get chubby cheeks.
Some people are naturally “blessed” with chubby cheeks. This may seem counter-intuitive, but as they age, this “chubbiness” will keep them looking younger longer. There’s more volume, so as the skin expands, it doesn’t “deflate” quite as quickly. For people who are very slender, who exercise a lot, or who are naturally not predisposed to have those chubby cheeks, it can be a difficult look to achieve. But there are a few ways to get those chubby cheeks if you don’t already have them, and a few of them involve cosmetic surgery or plastic surgery procedures.
One way to increase the volume of the cheeks is to use a product specially formulated to do just that. In this case, we’re talking about the injections of dermal fillers. You’re probably used to seeing these products around and in advertising: we’re talking about injectables such as Juvederm, Voluma, Restylane, and so on. Turns out, there’s an injectable for just about every occasion, and adding volume to the cheeks is no exception. In the case of dermal fillers, the product most likely to be used to add volume back to your cheeks would be Voluma (manufactured by Juvederm). Voluma is specially formulated to increase the size of the “apple” of your cheeks.
This means that volume is an exceptionally popular way to get chubby cheeks. The only downside—if you can call it that—is that Voluma is not permanent. The results will generally last anywhere from nine to eighteen months (sometimes longer) before they start to fade. This is, by the way, intentional—Voluma is formulated to be absorbed by your body over time. If you like the results, you can go back in for regular maintenance injections. Most Voluma injection prorcedures take less than fifteen minutes, so it’s a pretty convenient way to get the look you want.
Maybe the Problem is With Your Eyes
Sometimes it’s not the cheeks that are the problem, it’s the eyes. Excess tissue can accumulate around your eyes, making your cheeks look smaller and less full by comparison. In these cases, you might want to look into removing volume rather than adding it, and that can be accomplished with a procedure called blepharoplasty (or, an eyelid lift). These procedures are remarkably effective at eliminating excess volume around the eye—whether that’s eyelid tissue, fat deposits, or other things that just aren’t supposed to be there.
There’s a reason why an eyelid lift in Washington D.C. is so popular: it’s a great way to look a lot younger without drawing a lot of attention to the work you’ve had done. By removing that excess tissue, your face will simply look more youthful; it won’t look like you’ve had a lot of plastic surgery done to accomplish that, though. And, as a result, your cheeks will look a little fuller and a little more radiant. You will also get the benefit of eyes that look more alert, more alive, and more vibrant.
Watch Your Weight… But Not Too Much
Not everyone should be excessively slender or skinny. It works for some people; their bodies naturally gravitate towards that. But not everyone should aspire to that; a healthy weight is really between you and your doctor, and for some people that will mean that chubby cheeks are just part of a healthy lifestyle. If you have chubby cheeks, the best way to get chubby cheeks later in life is, well, just keep doing what you’re doing. If you don’t have chubby cheeks and you used to, then the best way to get chubby cheeks is to re-examine what you’re doing: is it really contributing to your health?
To be sure, how your cheeks look should not be the be-all, end-all of your medical decisions, especially when there are cosmetic and aesthetic ways to achieve your wanted look. But achieve your look, you can.
